It would deprive retailers the pleasure of calculating prices to always insure 4 pennies in your change.
It would alter the Lincoln/Washington currency balance.
Many are still disconsolate after the passing of the half-penny in 1857.
It mellows the timbre of pocket change - more samba, less hip-hop.
Real fuses are freaking expensive.
